Industrializing America: Four Inventors and Inventions that Helped Shape Our Country

Objective: Explain how the reaper, steel plow, vulcanized rubber, and sewing machine changed how we live today and preform everyday tasks.

Answer:
The McCormick reaper changed how we live today and preform everyday tasks because it was able to reap as much wheat as 40 men in a day. That meant that harvesting wheat could be done much faster and also meant that less people had to work on farms. The Deere Steel Plow changed how we live today because before it was invented plowing a field in the Midwest was a long labor intensive process because every few steps the person plowing would have to stop and scrape off the dirt stuck to the plow. After the steel plow it meant that plowing would be much easier and quicker. Goodyear's Vulcanized Rubber changed how we live today and preform everyday tasks because it meant that many items could be produced that used hard rubber. Without his invention we would not be able to make weather resistant effective car tires. The Howe Sewing Machine changed how we live today and preform everyday tasks because it made producing cloths easier and faster. If it was not invented cloths might also be more expensive because it would be more labor intensive and take more time.
